Short of The Week: The Butcher

"There are a lot of people in prison"

Director: Dave Graw

Written by: Dave Graw, Nick Ganas, and Trip Gould

After being released from prison,  a homicidal maniac, known as Boogeyman, runs into troubles while trying to adjust into society. A bit of a cliched tale that achieves nothing more that plastering a smile on your face. It deals with the issues of stereotypes, internal struggle, existentialism, love, and fitting in. The story is told entirely through a montage that is backed with music, but continues to be enthralling. Much of what the murderer feels can be mirrored by actions of your own—both emotionally and physically. I don’t mean to the extent of wanting to kill someone; it just follows the idea of trying to fit in and finding your place in life. Overall this is a delightful short that leaves the heart happy.
