Welcome to my first official post (not just recommendations!) on this lovely site! My name is Dan and I am here to take you on a wild journey into what some call Marvel after dark. That's right baby, I'm talkin' DC Comics! Though we may lose the vibrancy, colorful humor, and charm that Marvel swings around on occasion in this 'verse, here you will find the dark, the gritty and the *gasp!* brooding world of angst we call Batman. If that doesn't grab you by the collarbone and shake you into a squirming puddle of joy fret not! All heroes are valid, no matter the publisher! I am just going to be giving you the what's what and the who's who with this, The New 52. There are some really great things going on this month so let's dive into this week, shall we?
#3
Title: Animal Man #28
Price: $2.99
Writer: Jeff Lemire
Artist: Rafael Albuquerque
Story /Premise
'Evolve or Die!' concludes as Animal Man marshals every last bit of
power he has to protect his daughter from Brother Blood! But will it be
enough to save Maxine and the Red - or will Buddy lose another child?
Opinion
It's the penultimate chapter in the Animal Man series and it is sure to send the series out with a bang! Episode 9 of any Game of Thrones series will make the rest of the show look like baby town frolics when the writers drop the mic. All that is left is for them to back up in next month's final issue and let you look back on such a wonderful time with Buddy and his family, and with what they have been building, it's gonna be great!
#2
Title: Justice League #28
Price: $3.99
Writer: Geoff Johns
Artist: Ivan Reis
Story/Premise
'FOREVER EVIL' continues! With the Justice League gone, new heroes
continue to rise up throughout the DC Universe! The Crime Syndicate
tried to kill him, but now Cyborg is back to settle the score - and with
him are The Metal Men!
Opinion
If the tease of more Metal Men doesn't set you afire, don't worry, you are normal. The real draw here is the redesign that the characters seem to have undergone to fit into the new 52 and as Forever Evil draws to it's steamy finale, this integral tie in is sure to pack more punch than a Hitmonchan holding dynamite(do people even remember Pokemon? RIGHT?!). Cyborg's Boss fight with Grid should be spilling out onto the pages soon and that will be something you don't want to miss!
#1 . . .?
Title: Forever Evil #6
Price: $3.99
Writer: Geoff Johns
Artist: David Finch
Story/Premise
The final fate of Nightwing! The most unlikely of allies have set the
Crime Syndicate in their sights - and they're playing for keeps while
the life of a hero hangs in the balance! Plus, the identity of the
mysterious man in the hood is finally revealed!
Opinion
The ...? after that one says so much about this. The book is currently an unconfirmed book for this week even though everybody and their mom says it is coming. . .but I want to believe so bad it will come out. It is also a big mystery as to how they would deal with Dick Grayson after his identity was revealed to the world. I am so anxious about this series defining book that I have found myself waking up in cold sweats shouting "DICK! DON'T LEAVE ME! I NEED YOU, DICK!" much to the concern of my conservative family.
#1 . . .but for realsies
Title: Harley Quinn #3
Price: $2.99
Writer: Amanda Conner
Artist: Chad Hardin
Story/Premise
It's Valentine's Day, and Harley is getting depressed watching happy
couples walk by. Will a special gift from Poison Ivy turn things around
for Harley?
Opinion
Call me a trope sucker but I just love holiday themed specials. The thought of this one in particular brings me back to those nostalgic days of old, sitting in front of the Toshiba brick we had back then and watching Batman the animated series. One of the first episodes I saw was the Christmas one with Joker. L'il Gotham plucks at this same heart-string and I can only imagine the zany fun we can expect from this new team for Harley. UNLEASH MADCAP HELL, GIRL!
