WHO OWNS WHO?

Marvel owns the Avengers... Sony owns Spider-Man... and Fox owns The Fantastic Four and the X-Men? What about all the other crazy characters in the Marvel Universe? 

I have asked myself this question on numerous occasions and often here it being the topic of many blogs, podcasts and see if brought up almost every night on forums. We all know who owns the rights to the big names, and we were all confused as hell when we heard that Quicksilver is going to be appearing in both, X-Men: Day's of Future Past, and Avengers: Age of Ultron but we now know that there was a split of ownership for him from Disney/Marvel and Fox. So this post is to help clear things up and to find out who we could actually see team up with the Avengers sometime in the future, and who we can cry ourselves to sleep about because there is no hope for a team-up. Once all of that is said and done, we're going to go in and see who has the chance of making it to the big screen, or even the small screen(TV) for that matter! So, enough of my rambling, let's get in depth about what key characters numerous studios own from Marvel Comics!

From a report from the website Daily Mail Paul Bettany has been cast as the A.I. Vision in the upcoming Avengers sequel. Since is seems as though Ultron's creation will be from Tony Stark versus Hank Pym, it will be interesting to see how they incorporate and create Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! With shooting scheduled to start in the next few months, this rumor comes late and I find it as a surprise. I was not expecting The Vision to appear in Age of Ultron and thought that he could possibly be introduced in a future MCU movie, but I am definitely not not against having Ultron in the upcoming superhero sequel! This story is just a rumor as of now, but stay on the lookout for an official announcement from Marvel studios!

Paul Bettany is best known for his roles in, The Da Vinci Code, Legion, and A Knights Tale. What do you think of this possible casting? Review of the Book

I can some up this book in one sentence. How could this book be any better!? I have been looking forward to Loki: Agent of Asgard since it's announcement and I am so glad that I can say, Al Ewing does NOT disappoint! The writing in this issue was absolutely phenomenal! It was hilarious, action packed and still had moments that really made you connect with Loki and warm your heart. From beginning to end I was cracking up with this book. I loved the interactions between Loki and the Avengers, I loved the beginning scene when he is singing in the shower complaining about Midgards music and in my opinion the best part of this book was the narration from Loki and his thoughts. I love that Ewing is bringing Loki down to earth and having him feel like an actual human being who regrets some of his actions in the past (even though he is a god). The art in this book is very typical Marvel-esque in being that it's kind of hard to complain about it. It definitely complemented the writing very well and gave the book a good feel. This is a book to read when you want to laugh, and need something to pick you up and make you feel happy. The ending of issue #1 has been thinking and has me waiting anxiously to see what plays out in the rest of the series. I re-read the book a second time before writing this review so that I could find something that I didn't like about it, and it's a rare occasion but believe it or not, there honestly isn't anything I didn't like about this book. It gave me everything I want out of a comic book. Humor, action, and a gripping story that leaves me wanting more. I cannot wait to see how Ewing follows up this great start to the title and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for Loki, especially with the twist at the end!

The writing is exceptional and the art compliments it perfectly. You will get some great laughs, and have a really fun time reading this book. It will leave you wanting more. I promise.

Review of the Book

With this issue of Superior Spider-Man being the final in the Darkest Hours story arc, I feel like I was expecting a bigger, and bit more complex ending to the arc then what we got. This issue was not bad by any means, but I can't sit here and say it was a 10/10 book either. It was a fun ride and we finally got the "return" of *spoiler warning* Peter Parker! Well, kind of. I was happy yet annoyed at the same time because, well, IT'S PETER! I was annoyed because it's somewhat of a plot hole. How did Peter's conscious come back when in issue #09 he completely forgets who he is? *spoiler over* Most of this issue consisted of us seeing an all out brawl between the Avengers, and "The Superior Venom" which was epic and crazy! Finally the Avengers get called in, and they're finally doing something about Spider-Ock! But yet when the dust settles, they still think everything is fine and dandy once Flash has the symbiote? The issue ends with the Avengers as well when we see Tony looking through the files and finding something out about Spider-Man that we all don't know and Captain America saying "That's it. Time to bring in Spider-Man." Okay? Wasn't that supposed to happen in this issue? I'm kind of irritated with the fact that most of the MU's character's intelligence has had to be dumbed down in order for Spider-Ock to continue on. Even when Stark was going through the avengers files, Spider-Woman was trying to tell him that he isn't a Skrull so there isn't anything to worry about. I don't know if it's just me, but I really think that they would realize something is still up. Which, they somewhat did after the fight, and THANK GOD Tony Stark still thinks something is up. So I'm expecting that the next issue we will see the Avengers really confront Spidey while Hobgoblin and Green Goblin are going at it. Speaking of Goblins! We see the introduction of a new Goblin! It's a certain little police lady turned Goblin and I think it'll be interesting to see how big of a role she plays in the upcoming Goblin arc. We may have also found out who is behind the Green Goblin mask because he nonchalantly said that he's Norman Osborn. Do I think he really is? No. I don't think it's Slott's writing style to just put something out there, and as he said in a recent interview, "there's always a twist." The best part of this issue in my opinion is definitely the development right now going on with all the Goblins. Kingsley, and the Goblin Army are an awesome side story going on, and next issue it all comes to a head and I cannot wait! Slott is doing a fantastic job of developing that side story! Overall the writing in this issue stays constant with how the writing has been in the entire Superior Spider-Man series. Absolutely AMAZING at times, and just average or below average at other times. I think the only reason I'm disappointed in this issue, and somewhat in the arc, is because I was hoping we would see an all out brawl between Agent Venom and Spider-Ock, but hey! It was still fun seeing Spider-Ock bond with the symbiote. The art by Humberto Ramos in this issue is standard Ramos art though I think it felt a bit rushed in some parts of the issue, but is still very well done as it usually is. Overall, the Darkest Hours story arc was one of the better arcs from this series so far and with the ending of series coming up, I'm interested and excited to see what the final chapter has in store for us!

With the upcoming addition of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to The Avengers team in the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" a question that has popped into everyone's head at least once is, "Who else are we going to see be added into the MCU?" Well, I am making this post to share my opinion on who I think there is a possibility of us seeing in the future of The Avengers franchise. These are in no particular order, and obviously none of these are fact, they are nothing more than speculation and opinion on to who I'd want to see introduced.

Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers

To be completely honest I was expecting the introduction of Carol Danvers to be in Iron Man 3, but as we all know, that didn't happen. I think the addition of Ms. Marvel would be really cool for the Avengers and could actually happen. Ms. Marvel has already been rumored as a possibility but I think that if we were to see her on the big screen, it wouldn't been under the alias of "Ms. Marvel" but more than likely under her other name, "Warbird" or "Binary" mostly because Marvel won't want a character named after them in the cinematic universe. But I think the more realistic way would be that, she is introduced as shield agent "Colonel Danvers" who develops super powers as a part of the "super solider" program being brought back. Of course that's just what I think is the more realistic way of her being added into the MCU. There is the possibility of her being introduced in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" since that film seems to be really S.H.I.E.L.D heavy. Another reason I think that Ms. Marvel could fly her way onto the Avengers team is because Joss Whedon has already said he wants to use heroes with more "extraordinary" powers and what is more extraordinary than a deep yellow photon blast?

Union Jack/Joesph Chapman

Even though Union Jack was never on the Avengers team, the main reason I believe we could see Union Jack on the Avengers is because he was technically introduced in the first Captain America film but under the first Union Jack alias "James Montgomery Falsworth." I think it would be really cool to see the third UJ "Joseph Chapman" be introduced. This could easily be accomplished by Marvel. All they would have to do is have an opening montage in the beginning of "Captain America: The Winter Solider" of the original Union Jack, James Montgomery, in the Union Jack attire fighting people during WWII after being inspired from serving side by side with Captain America during the war. From there all they would have to do is introduce Joseph Chapman as the new Union Jack who has taken up the mantle and is apart of S.H.I.E.L.D's British unit/sector. Basically all the heroes on my list are going to more than likely be introduced from S.H.I.E.L.D. I also think his introduction would more than likely be on the TV show "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." It would also be a way for Marvel to tie in the TV Universe with the Movie Universe.

Black Panther/T'Challa

I guess this one is not really a "prediction" because a Black Panther film is already apparently "in development" but some evidence around him being introduced is the fact that Captain America's shield is made out of the Wakandian material "Vibranium," which means, BP is technically already a part of the MCU, but I think it would be really cool to see him and his Wakandian army fight with The Avengers. This is more of a, "it's bound to happen" type of prediction since it's technically happening already. I do think that Black Panther would work better by being introduced through an Avengers movie, versus his own solo film. It would be a lot simpler I think for Marvel, and would help condense everything instead of draw it out and over saturate the cinema field with even more super hero films.

Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew

  

The odd's of us seeing Spider-Woman on the big screen right next to Cap and Iron Man is probably slim to none. Yes, Marvel owns the Cinematic Rights to SW. I think that she would be an awesome installment to the Avengers franchise because they could introduce her as one of the agents at Hydra that infiltrates S.H.I.E.L.D. but eventually decides to use her powers for good (much like in the comics) but I doubt she would be named Spider-Woman and I doubt they would use her classic red and yellow suit. They would more than likely do a Black Widow-esque style suit where it's black on red, or black on black. I think she would be really cool to see on the big screen but I honestly think she is the most far fetched on my list. I just really don't see Marvel doing it, even though I would be the happiest little fan boy if they did.  

Iron Fist/Danny Rand

With his own Netflix TV Show on the way I'm sure a lot of people are curious to know whether or not Iron Fist will cross over into the MCU or if the several upcoming Netflix TV Shows are going to be in their own little world but I think it would be amazing to see Iron Fist a part of the Avengers. The reason I think that Marvel should bring all these heroes into the MCU is because it seems like they're setting it up for Civil War and if they're going to be doing that, they're going to need A LOT of heroes and the sad truth is that they don't own the rights to most of the big players in that arc, so why not bring in some that they own the rights too? It's a big possibility that all the heroes they'll be making Netflix shows for will make appearances in The Avengers franchise at some point in time, and I would be more than happy to see Iron Fist a part of that!

Bucky Barnes

The last character on this list is the famous side kick of Captain America, Bucky Barnes! With Bucky coming back as "The Winter Solider" in the next Captain America movie I'm very curious to see if they're going to take the obvious (cinematic) route and kill him off, or actually keep Bucky around for him to pick up the mantle of Captain America. Yes, I know and understand that Bucky doesn't take up the mantle until after Civil War when Steve Rogers is killed, but hear me out. I think it would be really cool for the entire MCU to have Bucky and Steve as Captain America, or even just have Bucky as his side kick like he was originally in the comics. As long as they don't kill off The Winter Soldier in the upcoming Captain America film, there is a very very high possibility of them utilizing the character of Bucky Barnes.

New Avengers #012 takes place right after the end of Infinity #006 and gives us more of an idea of things to come. Black Panther is banned from Wakana for bringing Namor into the dead city, Dr. Strange has locked himself inside of the Sanctum Sanctorum  and Black Swan promises the Avengers that the Builders and Thanos were just the beginning of something bigger to happen

Review of the Book

This is going to be a short review simply because it's just wrapping up infinity and laying things out for future marvel events. It's a good wrap up book and I am really excited to see what happens in future Marvel events. The art was beautiful yet again, especially the way Black Swan was drawn was just amazing.

The end of Infinity is finally upon us, and the Avengers are returning to earth to defeat the evil tyrant Thanos but will earths mightiest heroes get more than they bargained for?

Story Summary(some spoilers)

The story begins were issue 5 of Infinity left off. The Avengers are on their way down to earth to stop Thanos from destroying earth, while the Illuminati attempt to save the inhuman king, Black Bolt from the mind control powers of super giant, and the other avengers team is in space attempting to destroy Thanos' blockade. When Captain America and his team land on earth they are about 52 miles away from where Thanos is preparing to kill his son so he sends Hulk in to buy them some time as the rest of the team attempts to make it to the hidden Inhuman city in time to stop Thanos. After super giant controls Black Bolt to attack the Illuminati, Dr. Strange uses his sorcerer magic to attack Super Giant but finds that she can still control Black Bolt. Mr. Fantastic then interviens and is able to stop Black Bolt from using is super sonic speed and is able to wrap himself around Super Giant long enough just for Black Panther to use a grenade and almost kill not only Super Giant, but the Illuminati as well. As Hulk battles against Thanos and his Minions we see that not even the Hulk is powerful enough to take down Corvus Glaive as he is barely saved with the help of Captain America. Cap and his team then battle against Thanos and his forces but find that they aren't even strong enough to kill them all. Cap is able to kill Corvus Glaive when Proxima Midnight uses her staff to shoot at Cap and Captain Marvel because Cap is able to use his shield to deflect the power from the staff to Corvus. When the grenade goes off and almost kills the Illuminati, Super Giant walks over to the mega bomb that they were all after and believes that she has activated it but learns quickly that the inhuman dog Lockjaw and Black Bolt's brother Maximus have the actual bomb. Lockjaw then transports Super Giant into space where she is killed from the bomb. As the battle between Thanos and the Avengers rages on, Thor jumps in and attacks Thanos but not even he is strong enough to kill the mad titan. It is then to everyone's surprise that the Ebony Maw releases Thane, Thanos' son in order to get the power out of him and prove he is just like his father. As a result, Thane uses his inhuman powers to freeze Thanos and Proxima Midnight forever in what looks to be a casing of sap. At the end of the book we learn that Black Bolt knew all of this was going to happen which is why he released the terrigenesis to help save the Inhuman race, and we see the Illuminati talking and preparing for something more evil then they have ever seen.

Review of the Book

Honestly, my summary cannot do this book justice. If you haven't been reading Infinity you need to go to your local store right now and buy issues 1-6 and the Avengers/New Avengers tie ins. This final issue of Infinity was amazing. The writing was phenomenal and really sets things up for a long time into the future for the Marvel Universe. In this issue I was really hoping to see Captain America and the Avengers kick some bad guy ass and that is exactly what I got! Though the first few issues for Infinity were a bit slow and lacked some action, this issue really made up for it. Amazing fight scenes and one crazy ending to one crazy story line. The art in this book was also beautiful. The art through this entire event has been some of the best and most realistic art that I have seen in awhile and I think that the artists of the main Infinity books, including New Avengers and Avengers need to be applauded for their talents. All in all, you should really read the main Infinity books because they will give you a fun and exciting ride. I was really mad about the $5.99 price tag on Infinity #6 but after reading it, I can honestly say that it is worth every penny. 

Pros, Cons, & Rating

PROS: Great Writing, Beautiful art, awesome story, and a great ending to this event!

CONS: It's $6 which is a lot for a comic

Rating: 9/10. Really fun and really awesome ending for Infinity!

Elizabeth Olsen officially joins the cast of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron"

It's official! Elizabeth Olsen has officially joined the cast of The Avengers: Age of Ultron as Scarlet Witch! We found out a while back that Alan Taylor-Johnson will be Scarlet Witch's mutant brother, Quicksilver, and since that announcement much speculation has been going around about who will be playing his sister, Scarlet Witch. We found out through an interview with Samuel L. Jackson that Olsen was, if not already cast, being strongly looked at to play this role. It was announced via Marvel.com earlier this morning that Olsen will indeed be dawning the maroon spandex and head piece.

I have never seen Olsen act before so I am going into this with an open mind and am looking forward to seeing how she will do in this role! Are you excited about the news of Olsen being cast at Scarlet Witch? Or would you have liked to have seen someone else in that role?
