Dead Space 2: Game Review!

For The Fan Presents:

Dead Space 2 (Review)

Publisher: EA Games

Oh boy, where to begin. In this review I am going to cover the entire game: Single player. (Multiplayer was fun for a while, but gets old rather quickly in my opinion.) When I heard EA was making a Dead Space 2, I thought, "There is no possible way they could throw any more surprises, jump-scares, action,  and horror into a video game." Boy was I wrong.

Not only does this game feature tons of new game-play, weapons, horror, scenery, and Necromorphs, but it also features a whole new Isaac Clarke. In the original Dead Space, Isaac seemed emotionless. You only see his face in the beginning, and the end. The only times you hear him are his grunts and heavy breathing from being attacked, as there is no voice actor for him. After his girlfriend dies, the most emotion he can stifle is his hand in his palm. In Dead Space 2, Isaac not only removes his helmet numerous times during the game, but he now seems to have developed vocal cords!

The story-line in the game is absolutely superb, but, as I don't want to give away any parts to the game, I'm not going into great detail. Isaac wakes up from a coma three years after the original game, on a massive Space-City called The Sprawl. You are immediately thrown back into the action from the moment he wakes up, running from Necromorphs in a strait jacket. Next, i'm going to go into the scenery, or the new map for the game.
    Welcome to Jump Scare City!

As the game is based in a massive city, the areas aren't going to be long hallways or labs like in the U.S.G. Ishimura, (the setting of the original game) but rather, full of more everyday buildings, like a church, children's bedrooms, a nursery, and much more. These all add to the creepy-factor, and the uneasy feeling you get from walking around near pitch black rooms. Added to that are the amazing graphics, which make it seem all the more real. Also, some of the Necromorphs are different. Since it is a community, there are also children, who are small, and fast, but not as powerful when it comes to killing them.

Overall, it is a fantastic game, a bit better than the original Dead Space in most aspects, the game is controlled much more fluid and the story is very well organized.Well worth the 5 dollars I payed for it!
