A Reboot Is AFoot: Predator Returns To The Screen Once Again

Here we are again. The reboot is on the prowl this time with an old friend. The 1987 Action/Sci-Fi film, Predator is getting a reboot.

After the failed spin-offs and sequels of Predators and Predator VS Alien. You would think studios would have gotten the hint that it is impossible to bring back the magic of the original.

Apparently they haven't.

Fox has announced that our beloved man-hunting predator will return to the big screen. Don't burst in a flurry of anger just yet. This time there is hope.

Shane Black the director of Iron Man 3 who also appeared on screen as Hawkins in 1987's Predator, will write the treatment and direct the upcoming reboot.

You know the whole, "In order to catch the fish, you must act like the fish" analogy? Well, it somewhat applies here. Black has set foot on the original film. So, he must have an idea of what he should do to make a successful film.

Also, knowing that the producers have been trying to get Shane Black to write Predator from the beginning is pretty promising, which is stated in this story by the THR report:

When Predator was being made in 1986, Black was already a screenwriting prodigy for his Lethal Weapon and Monster Squad scripts. The studio and producers wanted him to polish the script for Predator, which was then in pre-production. Black turned it down. A few weeks later, they approached him again. Once more, Black said no. Another few weeks went by, and then the studio called again. This time, however, he was told there was a small role in the movie and asked whether he would like to have it. Black said yes.

When he arrived to the South American set, the studio execs and producers greeted him and said, "By the way, would you mind taking a look at the script?" Black replied, "I’m still not rewriting it."
More news to come!
