Twin Peaks: The Return

After two decades the hit television series Twin Peaks makes it return. It's Showtime!

What's that smell? Tea? Coffee... it smells like coffee and Damn Good Coffee at that!

After several cryptic tweets last week, director David Lynch has finally came out and confirmed that the cult classic television series "Twin Peaks" will be returning for a third season! He announced it on Twitter earlier today with a video stating that the show will be airing in 2016 on Showtime. If you're a fan of the show then you remember that Laura said this was supposed to happen! She told Cooper that she'd see him again in 25 years and it seems that they are holding that statement with merit. The teaser even begins with the shot of Laura reciting the line, but is fogged in a haze of surreal audio.

In 1991 the show was cancelled after only two seasons. It was then followed by a controversial prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, released in 1992. It has now been over two decades since we've seen or heard anything about the series (I think even David Lynch claimed to close the books on the series forever). Other than the bustling of its fans praising and demanding more. That has now changed. The series is back for a nine-episode run that will be written and produced by both David Lynch and Mark Frost and the entire season will be directed by David Lynch.

If you are a returning fan or find yourself hoping to become one, Showtime will be airing the first two seasons sometime before the premiere of the third.

Twin Peaks follows FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper who is called in to investigate the strange demise of Laura Palmer who's body is washed up on a beach near the small Washington state town of Twin Peaks. As his journey begins he begins to uncover a web of mystery that ultimately leads him deep into the heart of the surrounding woodland and his very own soul. Now, twenty five years later, the story continues.
