Story/Premise

WARRIORS REBORN! Adventurers SPEEDBALL and JUSTICE have come together with a group of young heroes including NOVA, SUN GIRL, and HUMMINGBIRD (and even a couple of new faces) to stop the latest threat to the Marvel Universe—the Atlanteans, Inhumans, clones and hundreds of other so-called “superior” beings are living among the humans of the Marvel Universe, but not everyone is pleased about it.

THE HIGH EVOLUTIONARY has raised an army to combat the evolution of humanity – and the New Warriors are locked in his sights!

Review of the Book

I've been excited for the start of this all new, New Warriors book mostly because of how much I loved Chris Yosts' previous title "Scarlet Spider." I was/am excited to see where Kaine's story goes and how he interacts with everyone who he will eventually be teamed up with, but to my surprise and delight, I found myself caring about more than just Kaine in this issue. This issue was a total setup issue and gave you a quick introduction to almost everyone who will be on this brand new, New Warriors team and that will be featured in the book (for the most part.) For the most part I really enjoyed this book and really think that this is a great setup for what Yost is going to be introducing us to in the upcoming first story arc. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed in the fact that none of the members have actually met yet (with the exception of Nova, Speedball and Justice). I was really hoping to see everyone get thrown together, but I'm sure it's going to happen early in the second issue that comes out next month. There were references to the massive Marvel event, Civil War, which I think was excellent of Yost to include in the dialogue, because ultimately what we were all thinking was brought up. How will the New Warriors be accepted in a Post-Civil War universe? The New Warriors were basically the cause of Rogers vs Stark, so it's going to be a blast to see people's reactions when word gets around that the "New Warriors" are back in town. The art in this book was really pleasing in my opinion and compliments Yost's writing a lot better than other artists who he's worked with in the past. It's in that "Marvel style" of art but also has To's own style integrated into it. I hope that he and Yost stay on this book through it's entirety. And seeing as almost every Marvel ongoing title cannot seem to pass 35 issues, I think it is completely plausible that this creative team stays on board for the complete run

WHY TO BUY & RATING:

WHY TO BUY!
This first issue of The New Warriors is an awesome setup book for what's to come from the title. Chris Yost's writing is really great as it always is and you can tell he understands how to write all of the characters that appear in this title

RATING: 8/10(B+)
